Janasamskriti has been conducting series of AKG memorial lectures to commemorate the outstanding contributions of late Sri.A.K.Gopalan. AKG is one of the most respected leaders of the downtrodden that the country has produced.
Being a socio-cultural organization with a strong commitment to the society and aprogressive outlook, Janasamskriti considers it an important objective to educate its ownmembers about the various developments and changes that take place in the society.Cultural activists need to equip themselves with an internal mechanism to perceive every
social development in the right way. The organization believes that creating ideas anddisseminating them in the society are essential part of cultural activity, especially at atime when the civil society is facing multiple challenges. A cultural activist need to beaware that the challenges are manifold, be it the planned assault of the imperialistglobalization on the economic and political sovereignty of the country or the intrusioninto our culture and educational systems or the invasion through media of oursensibilities, sensitivities and values or the attempts to weaken the secular fabric of ourpolity. In a world where these challenges appear simultaneously and generallyinterrelated, a cultural activist need to refine and revise his/her intellectual tools toproperly understand and analyze the social processes happening around him/her. This ispossible through studies, meaningful dialogues and debates. AKG memorial lecture isone of the most important events conducted by Janasamskriti every year with this objectivein mind. The lectures are delivered by prominent personalities in the fields of politics, economics, agricultural economics, culture, education, journalism, international relations, history etc. on various important issues related to the public sphere. These lectures evokegreat interest among students, cultural activists, social workers and other sections of thesociety. The lectures are followed by interactive sessions in which questions emanatingfrom these lectures are raised. These question-answer sessions prove useful inunderstanding the various aspects of the issue at hand in more detail. Over the years it hasbeen proved that the cultural activists in Delhi have benefited themselves from theselectures while dealing with various issues in their spheres of activity.
